Because of the declining economy and the fact that the price of paper has increased considerably, we are forced to increase our publishing fee in order to keep up with our new expenses.

OUR PUBLISHING FEE is now $599.00 and it includes the following:

OPTIONAL COSTS

     ABOUT COVERS:  We will custom design two versions of whatever book cover you have in mind; you will have the chance to make up to three changes on whichever you like. More changes will be charged accordingly, as the Graphic Designer's time is very valuable. Please understand that we do not use templates for your covers - they are designed especifically according to the theme of your story.

NOTES TO REMEMBER 

We at OMNI Books will not edit your book or correct grammar mistakes unless you ask us to do it and sign for that option.   When we receive your manuscript we will go over the first chapter and that gives us an idea of what is needed for the rest of the book; at that time we will contact you with what we found.   Editing takes time, takes concentration, and takes knowledge, and our editors' time is very valuable and needs at least two weeks for the job. 

We know that once an author finds a publisher for his book all he wants is to send that manuscript out - 75% of the time without taking the time to go over his own words to make sure that it's flawlessly written. 

When the time comes to receive the proof book we ask... no, we BEG our authors to take their time to read and make corrections.  I know how exciting it is to have your book in your hands, even if it is just the 'proof book', and all you want is to send it back because the sooner you do it, the sooner you'll get back the finished product.  WRONG!  Please take time to read it once, twice, three times if possible - then send it back.  You will save yourself pain and embarrassment if you are thorough that first time.

   With OMNI Book Publishing, you, the author, always keep the rights to your book. If Hollywood comes knocking on your door and wants to make a movie or a series of your work, or if one of the traditional publishers in New York decides to take you under his powerful wing you always retain every right to your work, and we will never request that you share royalties with us or that you follow our rules before you sign that contract.   There are publishers that request that the author shares the royalties - and these can be as high as 23% - and you feel tied up to them forever even though all they did was to publish your work.  OMNI Book Publishing feels that this is not fair to you, therefore, although your book was published and is being distributed by us, this is your only tie to our company.

    We offer our authors a "Loyalty Bonus" when he sends us his second, third, fourth book...etc...of $50 off the publishing fee.

   OMNI Book Publishing also accepts returns from booksellers that need to return unsold books.  We will not charge anything extra to the author - and please note that some publishers charge the author $699 'just in case' they have returns of your book by booksellers. 

Returns don't happen very often, but when they do we have to deduct the royalties paid to the author at the time of that sale.  The fact that we accept returns is a big deciding point for a bookstore owner when they are stocking their shelves. 

A very important note is that when the author choses to have the Ingram Books Group Company in his contract, books distributed by Ingram are NON RETURNABLE.  These are the books sold through Barnes & Noble.

   ROYALTIES  ~  The royalties clause in a contract is a very important one for the author.  We will pay the author 30% royalties for every book sold through our company directly to a client, and we ship books within 48 hours from the order.   A faster way to order is by telephone:  517-541-2942     We will pay royalties for books sold through our office every month.   

Royalties on books ordered through a distributor (Amazon, Borders, etc.) will pay the author 15%, and he will receive his payment every three to four months. That rule is put there by Amazon and not by us.

SPECIAL EDITIONS  -  

We are starting something new at OMNI Book Publishing; the printing of Special Editions. These are hard cover books with a leather-like cover with the title and your name printed in either gold or silver.  We will print 26 copies of the book (one for each letter in the alphabet) plus one free copy for the author, and they will be marked from A to Z. Of course, all 26 copies must be ordered by the author at the same time; we cannot separate the order.  Collectors seek special edition of books and some of them go to any length to obtain whatever letter they usually collect; other collectors will be happy to just get a copy, no matter what the letter is. The author's family will also be proud to have one of these special books that will enhance their bookcases because of the richness and elegance of their binding.  Think what will happen if your book makes an entry into Hollywood's gold portals, or if it becomes a national best-seller!

Something else that we can do:  even if your book was published by someone else we can still offer you a special edition of your work for an extra $150 to re-format your manuscript..  You need to make sure that you own the rights to your book with the company that published it; give us a call at the number listed in the next paragraph and we'll discuss with you how we can publish your own special edition.  OMNI Book Publishing is the only small publishing company that offers special editions at this moment!

The full price of this program is $1465 per set of 26 books plus shipping costs directly from the printers to your home when applicable. This must be prepaid before we place the order to the company that makes these beautiful books, but if you have problems and need to make two payments, we will accept the first payment of $1000 and a post-dated check in the amount of the balance and dated no more than 30 days from the first check.  Both checks should arrive at the same time in our office.

These special edition books will not have an ISBN or EAN barcode so that you can place your chosen price to them. We can, however, print the price you wish in the back page of the book. OMNI Books has no input on the price you put on your own special edition book, but we can discuss it with you and keep you realistic.

VERY IMPORTANT:

All changes made to your manuscript AFTER it has been approved by you after seeing the final PDF proof will be charged for accordingly.  Our Interior Book Designer's time is very valuable and many times she has re-done PDFs without charging extra, but the proofing time has its purpose: to allow the author the chance to go over everything in his book and make the 40 free corrections or changes that we allow.   Changing his mind afterwards will be costly, therefore, please make sure that when we receive back the corrected PDF proof it has been indeed CORRECTED or changed. It's better to take a few extra days in returning it than to realize that there should have been other changes.
